Today in the morning we , consisting of Aleksey Sokolov and Larisa Zakharova have arrived to «Yekaterininsky Central» which is equally well famous as Butyrka in Moscow.
The reason for attention from human activists was information of hunger strike in penitentiary № 47 in Kamensk-Uralsky in August of 2013. Hunger strike was launched against physical abuse towards convicts.
That time our workgroup visited penitentiary upon relatives’ requests for providing legal help for convicts, but we discovered that convicts were transferred to pre trial detention center -1 suddenly. So we came back to Yekaterinburg.
Anyway we hope for understanding and cooperation from pre trial detention center -1. They even wrote out passes for us after what they took them back to sign. We have been waiting for them patiently. Somehow it goes that authorities and prison administration don’t like us, apparently because it’s not possible to negotiate with us not to write about law breakers and violations. Our rule is the law should be kept by everyone.
However penitentiary administration keeps resisting to «For convicts’ rights protection» fund and doesn’t want us to get in their «hide-out». It seems we live in last century of totalitarian rule where every step used to be under strict control of system.
Why are you, dear all prison servants, afraid so much of the truth in the system?
Why do you keep hiding all violations of fundamental rights of humans?
Or may be convicts are humans anymore?
Or may be convicts are not supported by relatives?
Why do you resist for them to get legal assistance?
After all.. may be convicts are beaten?
