Last Friday on November 15, 2013 a meeting of Ural defenders and civilian activists took place dedicated to starting of Public Monitoring Committee of Sverdlovsk region of third calling. The meeting was under guidance of Trans regional center of human rights and it was held in «Nation’s house of the Urals».
Among those present at the meeting there were nine members of Public Monitoring Committee of Sverdlovsk region: Larisa Zakharova, Olga Dianova, Oleg Pavlovich, Dmitry Rozhin, Elena Nikolaeva, Anton Kudryakov, Dmitry Antonenkov, Vyacheslav Bashkov. On skype there was Svetlana Malyugina from Moscow as well.
Besides attorneys and human rights defenders participated in there: Vladislav Averyanov, Valery Khaimin, Roman Kachanov, Lyudmila Lukasheva and Aleksey Sokolov.
Roman Kachanov presided at the meeting.
Human rights defenders have discussed current issues: defense of human rights being in imprisonment. Many of participants paid attention to tortures, violence and humiliation applying in penitentiaries.
Participants expressed concerns about absence of simple legal offices (for private conversations) in most of the colonies. In medical-correctional colonies there are no legal offices at all. It’s very complicated situation also with medical help for inmates including tuberculosis. Defenders discussed a question about future chairman of Public Monitoring Committee of Sverdlovsk region. Most of them supported a candidature of member of Monitoring Committee of three calling and lawyer — Dmitry Rozhin.
It should be noted that the first meeting of Public Monitoring Committee of third calling will be held this Tuesday, November 19 at 17.00 at «Nation’s House of the Urals», address: Yekaterinburg, 8 March Str, 33A.
