On October 1st 2014 human rights group consisting of a lawyer of noncommercial partnership «LEGAL BASIS» — Larisa Zakharova and attorney Roman Kachanov as a part of the project «Public service of penitentiary control in the Ural Federal District» conducted legal consultations for convicts in the pretrial detention center-1 of Yekaterinburg.
There were various questions from convicts: an appeal from judgement in criminal case, requests and appeals upon detainment conditions in the colonies, an appeal from judicial decision about refusal to initiate criminal proceedings with regard to bodily harm in the penal colony № 63 of Ivdel.
All the applicants have been provided with legal help.
We’d like to mention that administration of the pretrial detention center-1 of Yekaterinburg represented by warden of the facility -A. Kokayev tried to obstruct lawful work of the representative of human rights organization and refused to give a meeting with one convict who had arrived at the pretrial detention center-1 in order to participate in the court hearing.
With regard to this fact we will file a claim and illegal actions of warden will be challenged in the court.
We will be consulting convicts further.
