On 8 December 2014 as a part of the project «Public service for execution of punishment» due to complaints of relatives of convicts there was a human rights trip of members of Public Monitoring Committee — Larisa Zakharova and Svetlana Malyugina to the pretrial detention center-1 in order to check information which defenders had received on our site about arrested T. Family members and lawyer worry about him.
Public activists were met by the representatives of the pretrial detention-1 without any problems.
Members of Public Monitoring Committee spoke to convict T.; he felt down; he said he was under pressure by officers of law-enforcement bodies who visited him in the pretrial detention center-1. After their visit happened what they had promised to him — on 26 November 2014 jailers took him into another cell and with two officers in the uniforms began beating a convict in head and stomach; he suffered from terrible pain — as a result he made a full confession.
On 5 December 2014 after a court hearing convict T. inflicted himself bodily harm — cuts of stomach but he didn’t tell anyone.
Members of Public Monitoring Committee asked to call up a medical worker who examined a convict and made records in log.
After inspection members have visited cells with convicts who were expecting transfer to other correctional facilities. We have been told again that they were being there for a day; it’s dirty there, open toilet. There were a lot of people, they answered questions of members — convicts were given food only once and bed clothing wasn’t given at all.
Upon results of inspection we’ve filed claims to prosecutor office and investigative committee.
