On 15 March 2015 as a part of the project «Public service for penitentiary control» members of Public Monitoring Committee Svetlana Malyugina and Anton Kudryakov inspected the pretrial detention center-1 of Yekaterinburg.
Reason for it is to conduct public inspections of detainment conditions of inmates and to check complaints from arrested people.
Defenders randomly checked several cells with convicts. Also they inspected premises № 11 where defenders looked at conditions. Everywhere legal help was provided.
The main problem remains there overcrowding. Inmates sleep in shifts at some cells on the floor with mattresses.
This place was partly repaired but anyway it needs repairs further.
Several people wanted to get personal appointment with defenders. All questions related to statements of claims into trials from convicts who don’t want to deal with unlawful actions of jailers.
It made defenders feel better because inmates show desire on their own to protect their rights illegally not like they used to do with hunger strikes or hurting.
This way convicts will learn not to violate the law and someone who does will bring to responsibility despite his social status or official position.
